Start a Healthy Routine with These Top 10 Wellness Trends

02 17, 2023

Wellness is a growing priority for most people. McKinsey & Company surveyed about 7,500 individuals in six countries and found out that 79% of the respondents place special importance on wellness. A lot of people are taking their health more seriously, and you should, too! Check out some of the wellness trends we expect to see more of in 2023.

Micro Workouts

A micro workout is a great alternative if you don’t have time to go to the gym or complete a full exercise routine for an hour. It is a series of quick strength exercises that usually take between 3 and 10 minutes to complete. Some micro exercises you can try include jumping rope, doing lunges or burpees, walking, or simply taking the stairs.

Exercise Recovery

Our bodies need to recover from the stress of exercise in order to repair tissues and muscles and restore function. This year, there will be a rise in exercise recovery tools such as massage therapy guns and air compression boots. Gyms and wellness clubs are also expected to invest in cryotherapy chambers, infrared saunas, and cold tubs to help their members recover.

Full-Day Spa Visits

Spa treatments typically last from 30 minutes to an hour but some people have been requesting add-ons, like facial masks or waxing services. Whether it’s your first time or you’re a frequent guest, take the chance to maximize the spa’s facilities and treatments for an entire day this year. But before doing this, make sure that you clear out your schedule, as well as attend a yoga class or eat a light, refreshing breakfast for a good jumpstart.

Mouth Taping

Mouth taping is a TikTok trend that has not been extensively studied yet some experts believe in its benefits. Ann Kearney, a voice and swallowing specialist, believes that it helps practice nasal breathing while Dr. Raj Dasgupta, a pulmonary and sleep medicine specialist, says that it helps lower blood pressure. It’s always best to consult your doctor first before giving it a try.

Sleep Syncing

This wellness trend involves adjusting your sleep cycle and circadian rhythm. To start with sleep syncing, set up a regular sleep schedule to familiarize your body with sleeping at certain times. There are also several sleep tracking apps and devices to monitor your sleep patterns and offer feedback to enhance your sleeping experience.

Biotech Wellness Tools

Biotech wellness tools will be a growing trend this year. These tools give people access to blood testing and other assessments wherever they are and can be connected to apps and digital platforms. To meet the growing demands of the wellness market, more tech products will be out on the market, including lasers, microcurrent facial tools, and red-light therapy devices.

Sober-Curious Lifestyles

More and more people have been examining their relationships with alcohol and have become invested in becoming "sober curious". Sober curiosity helps individuals with their decisions when it comes to drinking alcohol. More bars and restaurants are also providing their customers with mocktails and non-alcoholic alternatives to meet this growing wellness trend.

Mushroom Mania

Mushrooms have been growing in popularity as more beverage boosters and plant-based snacks feature the vegetable as a key event or a main ingredient. Aside from being rich in antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals, mushrooms have a warm, umami flavor that can elevate everyday recipes. Consider looking out for ingredients like Reishi, Lion’s Mane, Chaga, or Cordyceps on your next grocery shopping.

Spiritual Wellbeing

In addition to enhancing our physical bodies, we should not forget our spiritual wellbeing. The term used to be associated with religion but nowadays, it can be achieved through one’s own practice. Tap into your spiritual side by joining yoga or martial arts classes or practicing smudging, which is a ritual that involves burning special herbs or wood.

Women’s Healing Circles

Through polyvagal theory, Science is showing us that we need eye contact, safety, and touch. Through healing circles, people feel safe, develop trust, and can connect with others for a shared experience and a higher purpose. In this generation, women honor their power by showing up for and uplifting each other. These healing circles will continue to navigate in the coming years.
